その靴を解体しました。分解した部材を一枚ずつ撮影し、その画像を革にプリント。プリントした革を裁ち直して、もう一度靴に組み上げています。
完成した靴のブローグ模様は、穴ではありません。解体した靴の写真です。同じ革から、クラッチバッグもつくりました。
手本を真似るのではなく、手本そのものを素材にする。そういう実験です。
革そのものを開発することは、いつも制作の前提にあります。2018年にPORTERと発表した AGING HANDPRINT™ とも、この点が共通しています。
There is a pair of shoes that influenced me deeply — a full brogue built on Church’s last 73.
I took it apart. Each component was photographed, and those images were printed onto leather. The printed leather was then cut and built back into a shoe.
The brogueing on the finished shoes is not perforated. It is a photograph of the shoe that was taken apart. A clutch bag was made from the same leather.
Not copying the model, but using the model itself as the material. That was the experiment.
Developing the leather itself has always been one of the premises of the work. It is a point shared with AGING HANDPRINT™, presented with PORTER in 2018.
