H.KATSUKAWA という名前がつく前、2006年に手で作った靴です。イギリスから帰国した直後でした。
ノーサンプトンで靴作りを学び、ポール・ハーデンで働いた、その直後の仕事です。影響がそのまま出ています。隠すつもりもありません。
白い靴の甲は、ビンテージのアイリッシュリネンです。ライニングに縫い付けたタグは、海軍の支給品から外したものを、そのまま使いました。サイドゴアのブーツは、伸びるエラスティックの部分にサープラスのビンテージウェアを使っています。どれも、すでに一度使われたものです。
白いビンテージリネンで作った靴は、中目黒の古着店で展開されました。
大きな音を出せる作業場がありませんでした。ヒールの釘打ちは、駒沢公園で作業をしました。フェンスに靴を掛けて撮った写真は、その公園です。撮影も自分でしています。
この2足のあとに、NIBE LEATHER と、NIBE LEATHER SHOES が生まれます。
These were made by hand in 2006, before the name H.KATSUKAWA existed. I had just come back from England.
I had studied shoemaking in Northampton and worked at Paul Harnden, and this is the work that came straight after. The influence is plain to see. I have no interest in hiding it.
The uppers of the white pair are vintage Irish linen. The label stitched into the lining was taken from a piece of naval issue clothing and used as it was. On the side-gore boots, the elastic panels are made from vintage surplus clothing. All of it had already been used once.
The shoes made from the white vintage linen were carried by a vintage clothing shop in Nakameguro.
I had no workshop where I could make a loud noise, so I nailed the heels in Komazawa Park. The photographs on the fence were taken there. I took them myself.
NIBE LEATHER, and NIBE LEATHER SHOES, came after these two pairs.
