ニベレザーは、あえて整えられていない自然のままの表情をしています。それは、通常は皮革に使われなかった皮でも最も体に近い部分を、自然のままに皮革としてなめすからです。
その自然な皮の表情に美を見出し、はじめて皮革にしたのが H.KATSUKAWA です。H.KATSUKAWA はそれを NIBE LEATHER と名付けました。

NIBE LEATHER SHOES
この革を使った靴 NIBE LEATHER SHOES は、2007年のブランドデビュー作です。
2007年春夏シーズン、この靴がユナイテッドアローズの主要都市店舗で展開されました。
NIBE LEATHER SHOES, the shoes made from this leather, was the brand’s debut, presented in 2007. For the Spring/Summer 2007 season the shoes were carried by United Arrows at their main city stores.
その最初の一足を棺とともに擬人化した作品「Return to the Soil」は、2016年に英国ノーザンプトン美術館（Northampton Museum and Art Gallery）の美術コレクションに収蔵されました。収蔵番号は 2016.20 です。靴底には「CAN RETURN YOU TO SOIL?」と刻印されています。
NIBE LEATHER は、H.KATSUKAWA のアイデンティティを形づくる素材です。
Nibe Leather leaves the natural form without trimming, by design. It is tanned from the part of the skin closest to the body, which was not used for leather products before. H.KATSUKAWA found the beauty in the natural look of that skin and made it into leather. He was the first designer to make it as a product, and named it NIBE LEATHER.
This natural, non-uniform and rich texture is just like a human being, where each individual has its own character. Nibe Leather brings love and a rich sensibility into our daily lives. It also gives an opportunity to think about the ethics and morals of the natural environment, ourselves included, in this modern society. Above all, Katsukawa wishes you to sense these things by touching this one and only leather, as the one and only being you are.
“Return to the Soil”, which gives that first pair a human form laid in a coffin, entered the art collection of Northampton Museum and Art Gallery in the UK in 2016. Accession number 2016.20. The soles are stamped: “CAN RETURN YOU TO SOIL?”
